Portland, OR — 3/14-Present
Marshall offers engineering services to building owners, architects and engineering firms. Projects he has supported have included, residential energy upgrades, custom homes, high rise multi-family, higher-education, laboratories and healthcare. Marshall has developed business dealing directly with building owners and has acted as a subcontractor to: Engineering 350, the City of Portland, Arup, Communitecture, PAE, Mazzetti, Hybrid Tech. He leads engineering and analysis efforts including HVAC, electrical and plumbing layout and equipment selection and energy analysis. In addition to the design process, Marshall has experience analyzing existing buildings and their systems, as well as participating in construction administration.

Marshall acted as the engineer of record for most of his work and was the responsible party for delivering mechanical and plumbing drawings and specifications and seeing these projects through construction administration. He was a primary contact to clients and represented the firm with business development and project management responsibilities. Marshall performed energy analysis for small design inquiries up to full green building certification energy models. Project types included: k-12, university, healthcare, retail, light Industrial and residential.

Mechanical and Electrical Engineer and Energy Consultant, Arup
San Francisco, CA — 8/08-9/12
Marshall developed engineering design and provided sustainability analysis. He was a primary contact to multi-million dollar clients and was known for developing graphic tools facilitating a non-technical client to make multi-billion dollar decisions about engineering systems for their central plants. Within Arup, Marshall led a research team to articulate the nuanced differences between an array of green building codes and standards. He also led energy audit projects and developed energy models for several large-scale projects for LEED Certification. Project types included: commercial, grocery, healthcare, and university.

Energy Analyst, BNIM Architects

Analyzed several energy analysis programs and their inter-operability with Building Information Management Software and developed a comprehensive report thereof. His work was contracted directly from one of the world’s leading BIM developers. Marshall was the primary responsible party for the interaction with this client.

Intern Engineer, Cannon Design
St. Louis, MO and Boston, MA— 5/06-8/06, 12/06-1/07
Assisted in designing and drafting mechanical and electro-acoustic systems. Performed energy analysis for LEED certification pioneering the use of cutting-edge energy analysis software. Performed computational fluid dynamic analysis for “air-curtain” in an operating room.

Assisted in designing and drafting mechanical, lighting, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems for various small to medium scale commercial and residential projects.
